Create your own Jack O’Lantern! This workshop is for medium to advanced students. This workshop will teach creative ways to throw a closed form piece by wheel throwing or handbuilding, specifying in the shape of a pumpkin to create a Jack O’Lantern. These throwing skills teach creative ways to work with the clay organically, and then carving and piercing the clay to make a Jack O’Lantern face & stem. You will get to make two small-medium size Jack O’Lanterns or pumpkins in your own design! 

This is a two-part workshop:

Day 1- Learning to throw/handbuild a closed form pot and carving it. 

Day  2-Learning Raku firing techniques to finish & Glaze your Jack O’Lantern.

-Materials: Raku clay, cutting tools: fettle knife, exacto knife, needle tool, carving tool, glaze

-Learning outcomes: Students will learn to create their own inspired piece with an organic inspired approach. Using & learning skills from a seasoned potter to learn techniques to throw a closed form vessel. They will learn to use exactos and handbuilding techniques to finish the piece, sharing tips & tricks for best results in combining throwing & handbuilding a successful piece. 

-Results: An educated experience in throwing skills and learning to fire Raku techniques.A finished Jack O’lantern you can enjoy for many seasons to come!
